Paul Vallee Johnson often uses images in his paintings related to the traumatic brain injury he sustained at age 16. In spite of the seizure disorder that resulted from the brain injury, Paul went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Arizona State University in Tempe in 2001. He has been painting ever since.
Now age 41, the seizure disorder has prevented him from living away from home. Paul was unable to follow the path his classmates took: moving to New York, going through the starving artist phase, trying to get the attention of dealers and collectors.
Instead, he struggled alone. Through sheer force of will Johnson found inspiration within the brain he did not ask for, but has learned to live with. He mined his altered brain and created paintings entitled: Long Term/Short Term, Emotional Typhoon, Interruptions and Passengers.
